‘Celebrity Poker Gala’ to Deal Good Times for Great Causes

LOS ANGELES – Poker champion and entrepreneur Yosh Nakano has assembled an all-star cast of poker players and Hollywood celebrities to inaugurate the “Celebrity Poker Gala,” a glamorous new event designed to sate the public’s never-ending appetite for celebrities and poker while benefitting charities.

“I’ve participated in many celebrity poker tournaments,” said event executive producer and creator Nakano, a veteran poker pro and CBS Intercontinental Championship winner. “and it is a lot of hard work on the part of the organizers. This event will be a festive affair and filmed for a 4 episode television show. It will give the charities represented by their respective celebrity tremendous television exposure. It will also create for our sponsoring non-profit, the GuardaHeart Foundation greater awareness of the PULS Cardiac Test to the general public. This test will provide the patient a 97-98% accuracy of their risk for heart disease.”

The “Celebrity Poker Gala” takes place Sat., Jan. 23 at 4 pm and the Final Table on Sun., Jan 24 at the Exotic Euro Cars, 22223 Ventura Blvd. in Woodland Hills, Calif. The event’s producer is Nero Films founder Matthew Berkowitz, who won the best director nod at the 2015 Madrid International Film Festival for the thriller “Wild in Blue.” The show will be helmed by movie and television director Justin Steel, a poker fan whose filmography includes “Gutshot Straight.” Serving as host and MC is poker pro Maria Ho, also known for starring in “Amazing Race 15,” with vocalist Ashlee Williss serving as the event’s DJ and singer.

Surrounded by Ferraris and Lamborghinis, a James Bond theme seemed fitting. The black tie gala will feature singers doing James Bond movie theme songs. In addition to Ashlee, Diane Kallay will also sing.

One of the unique aspects of “Celebrity Poker Gala” is how the show will focus not only on the players but their banter with the dealers, who are ignored in most other poker shows. Furthermore, various world-class poker players (coaches) will be on hand to give a “Chalk Talk” to the novice player. The novice player will also be able to receive advice from a coach in the middle of a hand by using a “Time Out” allotted for each round. The coaches will provide a “Huddle” during the breaks.

The event will kick-off with a Wine and Spirit Tasting and thanks to Nakano; those who imbibe can fortify their glutathione depletion from alcohol with Cellgevity. Glutathione is produced naturally by the body in all its cells and primarily the major organs to keep one healthy. “Alcohol drains glutathione (GSH) faster than anything,” says Dr. Don Colbert, a NY Times bestselling author. Riboceine, the proprietary ingredient in Cellgevity has been scientifically proven to be the most effective and efficient method of enhancing glutathione production.  According to Nakano, “The guests will also be treated to MaxVodka. This is vodka mixed with MaxATP, an energy drink that is not based on sugar or caffeine. It is powered by Riboceine so if there is such a thing, this is a ‘healthier’ alcoholic drink.”

“Celebrity Poker Gala” will also include the services of Donald “Chip” Harwood, who brokered the deal for the NBC Sports’ “Super High Rollers.” Providing media coverage and PR for the event and TV production is Paul & Robert Gourvitz of Gourvitz Communications.

“This will be a fun and festive event to attend,” says Nakano, “and the television viewers will also be entertained by a poker show that will be quite different from the norm.” Tickets may be purchased by emailing info@AlcoholGSH.com.
