Getting your Body in Balance

If you are anything like me, you value your body and try to do things to make sure you are healthy and well. There are many pieces to your health that you need to keep in mind. You need to make sure you are healthy and balanced mentally, physically, and spiritually. First let’s focus on the mental aspect. This doesn’t mean that an individual needs to be devoid of mental illness or medical problems. This is not realistic, as most individuals have some sort of trial that they deal with. It is important to be in an overall positive mental frame of mind. Thinking positively exudes positivity.  In order to have a good and balanced mental piece of your being you have a sense of contentment, you have a zest for life, you are able to laugh and have fun, you have a good ability to effectively deal with stress, you are able to move forward through adversity, you have a sense of purpose in what you do, you have flexibility to learn new things, you are willing to adapt to change, you have a balance between work & play, you are able to build and maintain lasting and meaningful relationships with others in your life, and you have a good amount of self-confidence. Second let’s focus on the physical aspect. This doesn’t mean you have to be in the best shape ever, but it does require some effort on your part. You may consider starting off by doing a detox or cleanse to rid your body of unwanted toxins. We live in a culture that eats a lot of processed foods.

That being said, there’s a lot of toxins that get into our bodies that we don’t want there. In order to rid our bodies we need to do a formal cleanse then be diligent in eating right. Focus on eating raw fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and protein. Along with eating healthy, an important piece to keep our physical bodies balanced is good exercise. You should be doing moderate activity most days of the week. Personally since I struggle with some health conditions that make exercising sometimes difficult and uncomfortable I bike or go on brisk walks. Just do something to get your heart rate going and burn some calories. It is also important to take care of your body by doing good things for it such as getting regular massages so alleviate sore muscles and tension. Take pride in how you appear to others, take the time to look nice each and every day. Symmetry is very important when it comes to balance. You should get regular checkups to make sure everything is well aligned physically. Finally, the third aspect of the triangle you want to focus on when trying to get your body in balance is spirituality. This varies greatly for each person. Some individuals follow organized religion. Others have their own set of morals and values they follow. Whatever it is, stick to something that you feel good about. Make sure you feed that piece of your being whether that is going to church, reading articles, listening to music, or something else that works to get you connected with some sort of higher power.
