Stock in ‘Celebrity Poker Gala’ Rises

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. — The list of musical talent set to perform at the inaugural “Celebrity Poker Gala” benefitting charities is growing, along with excitement for the event that is being filmed for a television production, which takes place Sat., Jan. 23 and Sun., Jan 24. The Red Carpet, the open bar, and the music all begin at 4 pm so one dare not be late to experience all the festivities.

Befitting the venue — Exotic Euro Cars, 22223 Ventura Blvd. in Woodland Hills — the music will be James Bond-themed. Artists scheduled to perform 007-inspired songs during Saturday’s 4-6 p.m. reception include Las Vegas-based blues singer Diane Kallay, whose selections will include “Goldfinger,” “Live and Let Die” and “Nobody Does It Better.”

Sonia Harley, known to her fan base as rock ’n’ roll’s best black female singer, just finished touring with Motorhead and will perform “For Your Eyes Only.”

Jacob Lusk of “American Idol” fame will represent the event’s sponsoring nonprofit organization, the GuardaHeart Foundation and will sing “Skyfall.” Former Pussycat Dolls member Carmit Bachar will be representing Operation Smile. She has three No. 1 songs to her credit and has sold more than 50 million records worldwide.

From nearby Malibu, Hunter Larsen, also of “American Idol” fame will sing “License to Kill”.

Also on the bill: Ashley Cuellar; recording artist Jeff Timmons, a founding member of the Grammy-nominated group 98 Degrees; and Thomas Agusto of Midnight Red, signed to Capital Records.

Serving as the Deejay and the Emcee will be Ashlee Williss, aka DJ Bad Ash.

According to the event’s producer Yosh Nakano, “Just the musical talent gathered here is worth the price of admission which is $200 for general admission and $300 for VIP.” Nakano, who also owns the health supplement website www.AlcoholGSH.com, said, “Add the other Celebrities, the Red Carpet, wine & spirit tasting, poker champions, and beautiful women dressed to the nines and you have the place to be — the Celebrity Poker Gala.”

Nakano noted that a huge roster of celebrities will also be participating in the event, including actor Daniel Baldwin representing his mother’s Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund; actor Miguel A. Nunez Jr., representing the Reed for Hope Foundation; actor-producer Johnny Venokur, representing St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; actor Tony Denison, representing the Sunshine Kids; actress Porsha Coleman; actress Paula Trickey represent the George Lopez Foundation ; reality TV star Omarosa of “The Apprentice,”; actress Kate Linder, representing the ALS Association; gold medal-winning Olympic softball player Jennie Finch; actor Christopher Rich, representing the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children; actor and producer Omar Gooding, representing the K.I.S. Foundation; comedian Andy Dick, representing Autism Speaks; comedian Lucas Dick, representing the Boys & Girls Club of Hollywood; actor Brett Cullen for ALZ.org and 3 time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, representing the One Step Closer Foundation.
